The first season of The Walking Dead, an American post-apocalyptic horror television series on AMC, premiered on October 31, 2010, and concluded on December 5, 2010, consisting of 6 episodes. There are many interesting series of horror movies to be watch. This genre becomes popular because of its thrilling and suspense effects plus the plot of the story. It is not just about horror actions only but it focuses on how people survive in that situation. Lots of lesson can be acquired and generate new ideas like life hacks on how to deal with the same situation presented in the movie. The only thing that stops them is the Walkers, also known as Zombies. The Walking Dead tells the story of the months and years that follow after a zombie apocalypse. It follows a group of survivors, led by former police officer Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a safe and secure home.
One of my favorite horror movies is the Walking Dead, according to Kiwi (2015), this is a series movie wherein the protagonist is a police officer named Rick who woke up from being coma and is in the middle of Zombie Apocalypse. It is being described in the introduction how Apocalypse started. Also, it was described that the film is an epidemic of apocalyptic proportions experienced around the globe which cause the dead to rise and feed on the living. The world is being dominated and ruled by the dead as the society collapsed (NPR, 2020). Even if I am just an audience I am also learning on what is happening in the film. It is very amazing how Rick met other people with different attitudes and characteristics. Each character shows unique personalities. By that, we can tell how people become selfish, arrogant, impatient and scary in desperate times. I understand how they acted because they were in a life and death situation. The compendium shows the travels of Rick and his group to different locations. With this, survival is being focused. The zombies serves as their threat. In this film it shows battle between groups just to survive and provide their daily needs. In the article presented by Alec, B. (2020) entitled how the walking dead comic end tells how disappointing other characters died. However, each character played well their role. Furthermore, the Walking Dead Compendium 1 is not yet the end of the actors suffering and battle in the world full of dead.
The walking dead does not need a narrator, and only uses speech and expressions to tell the story with characters. We always see a character’s stress, or enjoyment and know exactly what their emotion is during that time. Not only this, but the environments drawn are amazingly detailed and I enjoy looking at each detail, often coming back to just inspect if I missed any details. Often a whole page will be filled with an establishing shot of a city in the distance, or a location filled with expertly drawn, gruesomely detailed zombies.
To sum it up, I highly recommend this movie entitled The Walking Dead First Compendium. The story is about survival in the world ruled by the dead. Life skills can be seen and observed in this film which makes it realistic. Characters reflect individuals personality. All in all this is one of the best movie and worth to watch.
